Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Ifaty is between May and November, which is the dry season. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and little rainfall. The temperature ranges between 20°C and 30°C, making it perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, beachcombing, and wildlife spotting. Moreover, the dry season is also the best time to visit the Spiny Forest, as the succulent plants are in full bloom and the landscape is at its most colorful.

Getting there

By Road: If you’re coming from Toliara, the easiest way to get to Ifaty is by car or taxi. The journey is approximately 27 km long and takes around 45 minutes to complete. The road is well-maintained, so the journey is relatively smooth and comfortable. Along the way, you’ll pass through several charming villages, where you can stop and explore the local markets and shops.

By Air: The nearest airport to Ifaty is the Fascene Airport in Nosy Be, which is approximately 300 km away. From there, you can take a domestic flight to Toliara, which is around 3 hours away. Alternatively, you can also take a private charter flight directly to Ifaty, which will take around 1 hour. This is a great option if you’re short on time or prefer to avoid the long drive. No matter which option you choose, the journey to Ifaty is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
